PLEASURE TO MEET YOU

Venue & Date
Haley & Daniel were married on May 27 at the historic First Baptist Church of Eufaula, and celebrated their marriage at the Shorter Mansion, just a few blocks away from the church. Y’all. I’m going to put it on (electronic) paper here. I love Eufaula. It is quintessentially Southern. And I love every bit of it, especially the folks that claim it as home.

Meet Haley & Daniel
Haley explained to me that these two originally met during her last month of High School & later rekindled that connection at Auburn University where the two graduated from college. Their AU roots were evident from the “War Eagles!” heard from the crowd at the sendoff to the Toomer’s Corner-style hollow trunks holding auburn shakers as centerpieces at the reception.

The Proposal
H & D’s proposal story starts like many do, with a little bit of trickery. 😉 Haley explains that “He tricked me into thinking we were waiting to eat at the Red Bar in Grayton Beach, FL where he had a romantic beach proposal set up.” How sweet is that?

I can tell that Haley & Daniel are the perfect fit for one another. They seem to be able to balance one another out and really put the idea of marrying your best friend into perspective. Their smiles for each other were the best thing to watch all day.

The Big Day
Haley & her bridesmaids spent their morning getting dolled up in their matching silk robes at The Shorter Mansion. Shoutout here to Haley’s friend and awesome MUA, Brandon Barker, who did a fabulous job with Haley’s hair and makeup. He also provided some fun laughs along the way, easing the bride’s nerves as she prepared for this big event.

The guys spent the morning over at a friends’ house, hanging out on the back porch, sipping beer in monogrammed coozies and cracking jokes at each other. Daniel was possibly the most laid back groom I’ve come across! He and his groomsmen were great.

Haley & Daniel had their first look in the church sanctuary, with family & friends peeking in from the windows. From there, the rest of the day was a fun mix of pictures & family/friends enjoying their time together.

The ceremony space was just gorgeous. From the grand architectural design of the church to the cascading greenery hanging from the chandelier, every detail screamed southern class. I have to say that out of all of the decor, the sweetest piece was in the back of the church, were I witnessed Haley’s grandmother wiping a tear away as she gazed at a photo of her late husband, lovingly displayed next to a flower arrangement of roses and greenery. Then, her Daddy SANG her down the aisle to the song “Butterfly Kisses.” We were all puddles. I’m not kidding. I was also a puddle of tears editing this precious moment. Watching Daddies at weddings will always be one of my favorite things.

I absolutely LOVED how personal and intentional Haley & Daniel were with their reception. From the His & Hers food options (pasta, chips & dip, doughnuts!!) to the RC Cola bottles and moon pies..everything was so well thought out. The doughnuts, by the way, were Daniel’s groom’s cake, and they were literally the best I’ve ever had. They were from The Doughnut King in Eufaula. These doughnuts are so good, in fact, that they’ve been voted best in the state. Don’t believe me? Read here.

I especially loved the kids area at the reception. It featured fresh popped popcorn, balloon animals being crafted, and a candy bar featuring all of my—I mean the kids’— favorite candies! Such a sweet thought, to include the kiddos in the fun of the reception! It was an absolute blast.

Haley & Daniel,
I said it Saturday, but I’ll say it again. I am so thankful for y’all. You took a chance on a south Alabama gal with a dream of becoming a boutique wedding videographer. I’m so glad you did, because you two were a joy to work with!  I hope y’all will always look at each other the way Haley looked at that plate of pasta she snuck at the reception.. 😉 No but really, praying for blessings for you two and your new family, & I hope you enjoy looking back at these precious memories every year. Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Hudson!!
-Megan

PS- Special thank you to my second shooter Brion Strickland! Great job team!
