Venue & Date
Hanna & Jonathan were married on May 28 at the Yellowleaf Creek Mill in Clanton. As soon as you drive up to the road the mill is on, you are greeted by a gorgeous honey colored horse. Drive a little farther and you see the mill’s natural elements in full display, with a waterfall gracefully cascading from the creek’s edge.

Meet Hanna & Jonathan
Hanna was too cute telling me about how these two met. Hanna babysat Jonathan’s niece and nephew over the summer. They briefly saw each other at birthday parties and church services. Then Plexus became big & Hanna started selling it and promoting it on Facebook. She explained that Jonathan saw the “before and after picture” and messaged Hanna, asking if it really gave her “energy.”

Hanna says the funny thing is, “Jonathan’s sister-in-law was selling it too & had already tried to get him to take it. He thought he was being slick. But really the joke was on them. “My sister Holly and Jonathan’s sister-in-law Keri were best friends & were already scheming ways for us to meet so that they could become family.”  I mean, that is too precious!

The Proposal
H & J’s proposal was all caught on camera! She told me that he used her birthday as an excuse to dress up. “I just thought we were going to dinner. He drove all over the place to try and confuse me. Then he pulled into to this beautiful private golf course. As we were pulling in our neighbors were pulling out. He rolled down the window and asked what they were doing here, they said they were just taking senior portraits.”

“I seriously thought at this point he was throwing me a surprise birthday party and that they were in on it! But we kept driving around and nobody was there. When we parked a lady with a camera got out and I was like “hello”. I had been wanting to have family portraits done so that I could update the pictures around the house. Jonathan told me that was my surprise, family portraits. I was super excited because we all looked so nice! The photographer took us out to the pier over the pond and had us all sit down in a pose together as a family… I loved it! It is still one of my favorite photos today. After that photo the photographer asked what pose we wanted to do next.”

Then Jonathan got creative— Hanna says he positioned everyone “(in a weird way, and I was thinking, “what kind of photo is this?”) he then got down on one knee and I was shocked! My hands flew to my mouth and tears were flowing and I can’t even remember what he said! I was just saying YES! I think the most special part about it was that our children didn’t know and when I saw the look on their faces and his face I knew it was the greatest YES of my life! The photographer captured it all! I’m so grateful for those photos and that special moment with them!”
These two have the sweetest interactions with each other. Add in their precious family and you have a recipe for the most tender and loving day I’ve seen.
Wedding day details

The Big Day
Hanna & her gals got ready in the bridal suite at the Mill, wearing the cutest floral robes. I loved how easygoing and relaxed they all were getting ready for this big day!

Tears were flowing as Hanna gave her now daughters the sweetest gifts- a pair of silver heart pendants that matched a necklace she will wear. On them- the message that read“”today I tell your Dad I do, but I promise to love you forever too.”  She also gave Jonathan’s four year old son, Nathan, the cutest build-a-bear dressed like Spiderman, with her voice recorded telling him the same sweet message. Nathan played a key role in the ceremony as Jonathan’s best man.

Then it was time for the Daddy’s first look. Y’all. This sweet daddy brought his girl flowers. As the two hugged, you could feel the pride he had seeing her in her bridal gown, and knowing that she was marrying her true love.

H & J had their first look at the ceremony site, with the beautiful creek flowing behind them.

When guests arrived for the ceremony, they were greeted with a personalized guest book and a gift of flower seeds for them to take home as a favor. We all smiled at the sweet way that Hanna’s two Dads shared the moment of walking her down the aisle. The flower theme continued in the ceremony when the new husband & wife chose to do a non-traditional unity ceremony—they led their family through potting a plant together, symbolizing the way their new family will grow.

Hanna told me that “Jonathan’s father passed away when he was 17 and my Grandfather just last year.” They set up a memorial seat on both sides of the aisle saved for these special people. On one seat perched a red cardinal figurine. Hanna explained that her family was there when her grandfather died, and that “he watched 2 red cardinals for days out of the window. When we see a red cardinal it is as if he is near.”

The reception featured great food, gorgeous tablescapes of natural wood & candles, and the cake was three different flavors. Yes, please! Family and friends visited and watched as the newlyweds celebrated with the first dance and as Hanna danced with both of her Fathers.

To finish off the night, the couple exited to a stream of sparklers. It was a dream, y’all!
Hanna & Jonathan,
