PLEASURE TO MEET YOU

Sterling Castle Wedding

Birmingham Wedding Videographer

With an engagement straight out of a Hallmark movie- we knew Shelley & Blake’s wedding day at the Sterling Castle in Shelby, Alabama was going to be a romantic one!

The Sterling Castle has a romantic story in itself. Its owners Misty and Victor Binkerd built the venue as their home, and are kind enough to share it with couples looking for a beautiful place to start their forever.

These two had the most intimate day filled with family, friends, and lots of love!  I kept having to pinch myself thinking how lucky am I to get to witness this type of love and serve couples through capturing these memories??

Meet the Couple

Shelley & Blake Arcara

These two met on a cool Friday night by a bonfire. Blake saw Shelley from across the crowd of people and had to introduce himself.

Soon enough, these two were trading Friday nights out for Friday nights in as Shelley studied to become a Pharmacy Technician.

Hearing her vows to him made us all teary eyed as she explained how much it meant to her to have his help while in school–and how much it meant that he memorized her favorite Taco Bell order! Also–any guy that refers to his wife as “my Queen” will always be a “Prince Charming” in our book!

A Snowy Proposal Story

Birmingham, Alabama

I said it earlier, but their proposal was absolutely Hallmark Movie worthy!! I’m talking snow flurries falling softly while Blake was down on one knee proposing.

Shelley told me thta “December 8th, 2017, I woke up to go to work and everything was COVERED in gorgeous white snow! Work was cancelled, and Blake called me to say he was also off work, and was on the way over to have a snow day! I couldn’t believe we had beautiful, fluffy snow falling in Alabama. It wasn’t icy and sleet filled roads to trap you inside, it was truly the most gorgeous snow. So Blake comes over and asked if I wanted his sister to take some pretty pictures of us in the snow. (Since this will probably never happen again!😂) We drove to a nearby park that was looking like a scene in a Hallmark Christmas movie! His sister took a few “serious” pictures of us, then Blake took my hands and started telling me so many sweet things, next thing I know he’s getting down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I was truly so surprised, and it was all captured on camera! He wound up telling me later that he actually planned on proposing the next weekend during a holiday thing we were going too, but when he woke up and saw that snow, he knew he had to do it then. Blake said he immediately went to my parents house that morning and asked for their blessing, because he HAD to take advantage of this surprise snow day. It was absolutely perfect!”

The Wedding Day

October 19, 2018

Shelley and her best friends (and soon to be sister in law!) got ready at the Sterling Castle’s stunning white, natural light-filled bridal suite. Blake and his guys relaxed in the Grooms’ suite, enjoying retro pinball games and cutting up.

Shelley’s first look with her Daddy brought tears to our eyes, but the sweetest moment of the day (in my opinion!) was the little talk her Mom had with Blake right before the ceremony. You could tell by this short exchange that they really respected him and looked forward to cheering him on as Shelley’s other half. Adding an even sweeter touch, Shelley’s “something blue” garter was actually the one her mom wore on her wedding day, that was kept for 28 years in her grandmother’s (Shelley’s GREAT grandmother’s) special jewelry box.

Family is very important to these two, and that’s why their day was so intimate, surrounded by family they promised to love each other forever.

It may seem silly, but the only way to describe this day was “And they lived Happily Ever After”
